Blackwater

Blackwater is based on the improvisation concepts of Ramon Bischoff. On five days in spring 2019, the composer and producer invited different formations to his studio. Without the musicians having played together in this constellation before, they played and recorded directly and without rehearsal. Ramon Bischoff's few playing instructions were mainly related to sound and interplay. Bischoff arranged two twenty-minute sound sculptures from the fifteen hours of audio material. In post-production, the musicians' interplay was condensed and accentuated. The recorded material is structured by gentle caesuras and flowing transitions.

"The music of Blackwater feels like an organic whole to me. The sequences function on the basis of a spontaneously created set of rules. Developments and reactions arise as a consequence of a preceding circumstance and as an expression of the materials. A subliminal structure wants to express itself again and again through countless possible connections without repeating itself. Beginning and end are not defined." - Ramon Bischoff
